October's CRAFT BAR brings author Leanne Prain to talk about her new book Hoopla: The Art of Unexpected Embroidery and lead an exclusive workshop taken directly from the book. Have old photographs and postcards you have picked up at flea markets or your grandmothers house? Wonder what you're ever going to do with them? Photo Feelism, by artist Siobhan Long, explores adding embroidery and tactile elements to your photographs and other paper goods. We will have some photographs on hand, but we encourage you to get creative and bring your own as well!
$5 admission includes tips and tricks. Drinks kindly provided by local favorite Trumer Pils.

This just in! Tomorrow night is the ever-popular CRAFT BAR at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art! Here's the skinny, straight from the MOCFA E-list:

Designed by local crafters, Bretts and Avery, this project will add style and joie de vivre to any outfit. Bow ties aren't your thing? Turn your accessory into a brooch or fascinator!
Materials kindly provided by Britex Fabrics. A San Francisco landmark since 1952, Britex is a must-visit for designers, sewers, do-it-yourselfers and anyone seeking creative inspiration. Craft Bar at MOCFA This Thursday!
Looking for something fun to do this Thursday, March 3rd from 6-8 pm? Come on over to the Museum of Craft and Folk Art for the Craft Bar!
This month's session will include a table hosted by SF Etsy member Jeeyon of Pen and Paper, demonstrating how to make cut felt cuff jewelry.
Jeeyon says, "It's a flat $5 admission fee (free for anyone under 18, and $4 for students, seniors, and educators), and all materials will be provided by the museum (though you are of course welcome to bring your own if you'd like)."
And as if that wasn't awesome enough, comics artist Susie Cagle is hosting a table showing people how to make their own pocket-sized comic. Craft Bar with Etsy Labs always has some new crafty coolness going on!

We're in the business of loving and learning crafts
At least, I am. Jewelry is what I actually ended up settling upon after dabbling in ceramics, scrapbooking, and a bit of woodworking in school, but I still LOVE to learn new crafts!
This is why I'm super excited to go to Craft Bar with Etsy Labs tomorrow from 6-9PM where the theme is jewelry (woo hoo!). You can learn how to make a felt bib necklace with Katherine Coleman from KJC Designs or make a wire wrapped ring with Kelly Ball from Realia to name a few... Oh and did I mention that there are going to be cupcakes?!?! I'm so there!

Upcoming Events: Craft Bar with Etsy Labs
Hi everyone! Hope the weekend treated you well. I wanted to switch things up a bit today and tell you about an upcoming event happening in SF this Thursday that you might be interested in.
The amazing crew at the Museum of Folk Art & Craft are always working hard on planning their upcoming Craft Bar. Every first Thursday of the month, you can join MOCFA and learn a new crafty project that allows you to take a finished project home with you. All you need to bring is your crafty nature and social skillz. Supplies and DIY tutorials are provided by MOCFA. Oh, and there's beer too thanks to Truman Pils.
This week you have the chance to learn NEEDLE FELTING from three local needle felting artists! Sounds pretty awesome huh? So why don't you put on your SF Etsy button, get a little bit of a head start on your holiday weekend and show up for a little crafty fun?

Etsy Meet Up Tonight! And MOCFA Craft Bar Info
Have you heard about the Craft Bar at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art? (If you're a regular reader here at the SF Etsy blog, then you have!) This fabulous crafting party is usually held on a monthly basis, and SF Etsy team members have reported that it is a grand time. The April CB had 290 people attend! Wow!

There won't be a Craft Bar in May because they are busy installing their current exhibit, but here's a heads up that the June Craft Bar will be something truly special. More info on that coming soon. For now, mark your calendars for a June 3rd SF Etsy Team Meet Up at the MOCFA Craft Bar!
