Featured Shop - Kaching Design

I love the simplicity of Kaching Designs. Designer Pearlyn has a way of creating simple yet adorable images that pull you in to their world. The one or two color images can be found on adults & childrens clothing, bags, cards, & wall art. Any of her items would make the perfect gift for your friends (or yourself).
Here is my intereview with designer Pearlyn:

1. Tell us about your product and where you get your inspiration.
My shop consists of baby tees, wall art, paper goods, ladies clothing and household accessories. I started silkscreening on paper and fabric and I'm now starting to work more with other materials as well. Many ideas start on paper, from random drawings to ideas that stick for whatever reason. I like to make things I would adore for myself; the feeling that someone else might adore them too makes it very very special.

I get my inspirations from everywhere and almost anything, but the source changes over time. These days my inspiration seems to come from children, nature and animals. They seem to be so precious at the moment maybe because of what the world is becoming.

My love for making things started with a childhood friend. We used to make each other random handmade surprises with scraps and things we found. Later I got hooked on art school, then studied design in college, spent some time in advertising as an art director and now make the things you see in my shop.

2. How did you get involved with etsy?
I have a friend who told me about etsy. She loves to browse on etsy ALL day. I joined shortly after i put my own website up -www.kachingdesign.com

3. Do you sell your work in any bay area stores?
I used to. But now I'm focused on online sales only. I found that the lower margins, logistical hassles and small volume associated with selling through local stores didn't make business sense for me at the time. If anybody has figured it out, let me know!

4. When you're not creating what are you doing?
I work as a hairstylist on the days i'm not making art in my studio Still creating - just on someone's head. It's fun working with people from all walks of life, making them look and feel good about themselves. I love the contrast from the work in my studio and the salon. It keeps things fresh and interesting. On my free time I love to take walks with my fiance and my dog, go to flea markets and garage sales, try out new restaurants, watch films, have dinner parties, be outdoors or stay home and read a good book.
