The Savvy Entrepreneur

I dedicate this week's blog to our brothers and sisters in Arizona. In solidarity, we dialogged, educated and brought love to our folks in the struggle. We don't believe that boycotting AZ is doing the community good. The same folks that would be hurt by the boycott are the same hardworking folks who are fighting the racist immigration law. We must come together and do good by one another. We must collaborate, educate and help each other move forward.

Art brings people together. Whether it's painting or dancing...it's the act of creating organized chaos. It's a release, a gift, a blessing. All great entrepreneurs are artists. Whether they have the art of marketing or selling down, it's a creation all our own. As entrepreneurs it's important to have the balance of art and paperwork, creation for others and creation for self. Life is meant to be enjoyed and shared. Through art we create our reality.

While in Arizona, the Dead Kings Collaborative (a collection of us artists coming together with the same goals of prosperity and good will), live painted two images reflecting Arizona and life.

The first painting is the saguaro cactus. It is native to the Sonoran Desert in Arizona (and a couple other places). It blooms Arizona's state flower. The name comes from the O'odham language, which is a Uto-Aztecan language of Southern Arizona and Northern Sonora (Mexico). They can live more than 150, and one arm can take up to 75 years to grow. The largest saguaro is 43 feet tall and 10 feet wide! It just so happens that one of the artist on the trip is named after these tree like cactus's.

The second painting is of a phoenix. The phoenix is a fire spirit, said to live 500-1000 year life cycle. It then builds itself a nest, ignites it's a burns to ashes. From those ashes a new phoenix arises to live again, and the cycle continues. It represents whatever the viewer feels and connects with.

We also met some amazing people and animals. We thank them for their hospitality and hope to see them soon. Shout out to EPIK Dance Company! Woo!
