Etsy's Fourth Annual Craft Party -- South Bay Style

We had such a great time at the Crafting Supply Swap last week, which was co-hosted by SF Etsy and the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles in celebration of Etsy's Fourth Annual Craft Party!

A whole bunch of folks came out to donate the arts and crafts supplies that they no longer wanted or needed, and people were delighted to "shop" from the donations to find treasures they could use.

Christine, the executive director of the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, shows off the fun ring she found at the swap! There were all sorts of goodies!

We had lots and lots of fabulous fabric and sewing supplies as well as gorgeous yarns  -- appropriately enough for the venue!

We also had many paper goods, beads and jewelry supplies, mosaic and glass supplies, clays, and more! The miscellaneous section was quite well represented.

We had wine, punch, and yummy refreshments, courtesy of the museum, and people also enjoyed the beautiful textile exhibits while they were there. So much crafty goodness!

I was surprised and delighted to arrive for set up to see that Etsy had generously sent us the supplies for a craft project! It was great to be able to invite folks to make their own badges.

SF Etsy volunteer Rossella of Ross Lab setting up the craft project. Thanks, Rossella, for all your help!

Can you spot the SF Etsy members busy at the crafting station?

I spy happy crafters, including SF Etsy members Christina of Hoyden Designs and Liz of Ther*a*py
SF Etsy member Jerome of Gridjunky, working on his badge!
I just have to give a special shout-out to Jerome of Gridjunky who posted a great recap of his own, showing off the gorgeous finds he discovered at the swap. Read all about it here! Was great to see you, Jerome -- I'm jealous of those stunning textiles you snagged!

A big thank you to all the folks who came out to help make the Fourth Annual Etsy Craft Party a very special event in San Jose. Thanks especially to Christine and Teresa at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles for their generous help in hosting, and a big thanks to SF Etsy volunteers Leah and Rossella! We couldn't have done it without you!

The theme for this year's Etsy Craft Party was crafting for community, and I'm delighted to share that a portion of the $5 cover was a fundraiser for the Community Gallery at the museum. We also supported another great local community resource, FabMo, by donating the remaining fabric and textiles to them at the close of the swap.

Many folks asked if we'd be doing something like this again, and the event was such a success that we're discussing the possibility! Stay tuned!
