July Meet & Make Recap -- Sugar Scrubs at MCD with Katy Atchison

What a fun time last week at the Etsy Meet & Make at the Museum of Craft and Design! I had a great time learning how to make sugar scrubs from SF Etsy's own fabulous co-captain, Katy Atchison.

 Katy had developed her own recipe for a scrumptious brown sugar scrub, and she generously shared tips and techniques. I had no idea, truly, that it could be so simple to make something like this! (Even though I'd read and admired her previous blog post, where she shared that same recipe! You can read it here.) Sometimes you just have to do it to believe it. And having used the scrub, I can say for sure that it is quite effective and very pleasant to use.

Aside from the fun of learning from Katy how to put together the special ingredients, I had the great pleasure to see many SF Etsy friends.

SF Etsy members spotted! Lisa of Tickle and Smash shows Brandi of Sunshine & Succulents a few ways to decorate the sugar scrub jar.

After we made the scrubs and had them securely contained in their adorable little mason jars, the workshop participants headed over to one of the stations where we could adorn the jars with decorations. Pom-poms make almost everything a little bit nicer!

At the workshop, Katy also shared the recipe for a salt scrub (while explaining that the sugar scrub is much gentler on the skin, which is why that was the choice for which one to make at the event). Now I'm curious to try that one as well! (A Katy special salt scrub recipe is also shared here, if you are curious too.) Very exciting to realize that making your own bath and body products could be a simple and pleasant experience. Thanks again, Katy!
