Overheard on the Tweet Chat- June 24, 2014

Tweet Chat- 6/24/2014

This week, tweet chat host, Imelda from Sunset Shutterbug touched on Instagram! Last October when SFEtsy held its first Instagram contest, Craftobergram, we learned so much about this great tool that can be an asset for your shop. Many of our members had questions about using Instagram with their shops. This was an amazing chat with some great tips. Check out some of the great contributions from SFEtsy Social Media Leaders Lisa from TickleandSmash and Amanda from MsAmandaJayne. Make sure to follow the amazing SFEtsy Instagram for some amazing content featuring many of the SFEtsy members!

These are just some of the awesome quotes from the chat! If you would like to see the whole tweet chat, go to Twitter and scroll down to read the tweet chat! It is best to start from the bottom to the top!

Remember, the tweet chat is held on Tuesdays at 10AM Pacific. To follow the tweet chat, use the #sfetsy hashtag in the twitter search!

Join hostess Imelda @sunsetshutterbg on Twitter, Tuesday July 1, 2014 as she starts a series on social media platforms. Tuesday's will be on Twitter!

For Instagram promotions - use as little text as possible, and make it really work with the photo. Make them photo forward. I have double the likes and interactions with subtle text compared to ones with very obvious text (ie: a free giveaway promoted had only ~ 50 likes, and a dog cape launch add had a link to the product but blended in - commercial - 115 likes, a bunch of comments, and surprisingly a couple sales).

Watermark with your URL in a subtle way. Reminding them you're a site too, without doing any advertising that results in reduced engagement.

Focus on quality photos, time of day, minimizing commercial, and engaging in your chosen hashtags. Social media is predominantly about engaging with existing and potential customer awareness, not directly selling a specific thing to them. http://instagram.com/stylishcanine

Oh yeah, and hashtag in a comment unless you're using that hashtag to automate something (IFTTT, etc).
