The SF Etsy Show has been a collaborative effort with the SFEtsy Team as well as STUDIO Gallery in San Francisco.
The idea originally came from Co-Captain Katy Atchison who wanted to find a way to showcase the diverse artistic talents of the team and help strengthen the team community with a larger event where more of the members could get involved.
Because our team is connected through Etsy, much of our team activity and friendships we've built is all online. With over 65 of our members participating in this show, we really get to see the diversity of our team, build a stronger community by meeting face-to-face and seeing how wonderfully talented we all are.
WHEN WILL THE OPENING RECEPTION BE?:
Saturday, May 12th, 2-6 pm at STUDIO Gallery (1815 Polk Street, San Francisco)
Saturday, May 12th, 2-6 pm at STUDIO Gallery (1815 Polk Street, San Francisco)
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE OPENING:
- BUILDING COMMUNITY! Lots of networking and mingling with other team members! Bring your business cards or wear a piece of your work so that people can connect back with you, or recognize your work in person.
- A RAFFLE! Our friend of the team, Andrew Kontrabecki, has donated a wonderfully made ceramic jar. There will be a $1 raffle for this great item during the opening.
- A BAKE SALE! Many of the artists featured in the show have made homemade goodies to share during the opening reception.
- WINE AND CHEESE! Studio Gallery has graciously donated wine and cheese for the event.
All proceeds from this event will go to future meet ups and events - mostly craft supplies...because we are crafty like that. SF Etsy does not ask for dues of any kind from members.
HOW LONG WILL THE SHOW RUN?:
The gallery show begins May 2, 2012 and runs through May 27, 2012

ABOUT THE GALLERY SPACE:
STUDIO Gallery shows work from local artists and craftspeople, and this is their 9th year in business. They have a rotating schedule of shows, ranging from large, themed group shows with 175+ artists to solo shows. (STUDIO Gallery actually already shows several artists from our Etsy group.) They were chosen for this event by Katy because the gallery owners have many very special qualities...

They have a rotating schedule of shows, ranging from large, themed group shows with 175+ artists to solo shows. (STUDIO Gallery actually already shows several artists from our Etsy group.) They were chosen for this event by Katy because the gallery owners have many very special qualities...
- They are wonderfully supportive of local Bay Area Artists
- They house both 2D and some 3D jewelry and sculpture (which means our diverse community can have more participants in the show)
- They are set up to accommodate & organize group shows
- They believe in helping artists understand how to price their work and professionally hang their work for a gallery space – they helped many of our team members better prepare for selling work outside of Etsy.
Since the gallery show is up for the entire month of May....
