It's been a busy summer for SFEtsy, the Street Team for Etsy sellers in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to showcasing each other through team treasuries, we have started holding regular meetings at the Craft Gym in San Francisco
(http://www.craftgym.com/). We also had the opportunity to share Etsy's table at the Renegade Craft Faire, and we held our first Handcrafter's Faire at the end of July.
Linda Davis, of Linda Davis Designs (http://lindadavisdesigns.etsy.com) was the gracious host for the Handcrafter's Faire, which gathered eleven local Etsians on a hot Saturday up in the Los Gatos hills. Jeyn Reyn (http://jeynreyn.etsy.com) designed a charming flyer, which was posted on our team blog (http://sfetsy.blogspot.com/2008/07/sfetsy-in-action-at-handcrafters-fair.html) and distributed far and wide by team members, including a mention in the Bay Area Mommy blog (http://bayareamommy.blogspot.com/2008/07/july-26th-handcrafters-faire.html). We're learning much as a team about publicity on the cheap – shoulda posted the event on Craigslist! – and having a lot of fun meeting in person, networking, and chatting about all things Etsy.
Though it was only a small sample of the amazing talents of our team members, the Handcrafter's Faire showcased a wide variety of handmade items, including art, natural toys, jewelry, accessories, paper goods, and things for kids and babies. The participants in the Faire were (from left to right): Attaining Creativity (http://attainingcreativity.etsy.com), Treasures By Tina (http://treasuresbytina.etsy.com), Baby Friendly Beads (http://bfbeads.etsy.com), EXDesigns (http://evelynx.etsy.com), Jeyn Reyn (http://jeynreyn.etsy.com), Two Turnips (http://twoturnips.etsy.com), Panopoly Creations (http://panopoly.etsy.com), Linda Davis Designs (http://lindadavisdesigns.etsy.com), Hair Petals (http://hairpetals.etsy.com), Toys From Nature (http://faerierebecca.etsy.com), and Christina Williams Designs (http://christinawilliams.etsy.com). We're hoping to hold another Handcrafter's Faire in November, to attract those holiday shoppers looking for locally made handmade goodies and to help spread the word about Etsy.
