Ahhh how I love myself a good apron. They make me feel great about cleaning house & cooking up a storm. Home Grown Fashion has some beautifully simple aprons AND jewelery to go along with it. Little things you need to be a glamorous woman at home and out on the town.
1. Tell us about your product and where you get your inspiration.
I make down-to-earth, fun, and funky handmade fashion and home decor, unique jewelry, and gifts. My line is inspired by 40's and 50's retro clothing and homes, bohemian and gypsy style, and my teen years as a punk rock princess. I love the simplicity of clean lines and good form, and am obsessed with color.
2. How did you get involved with etsy?
I was looking for an option to take my products online. I was trying to work through that other web shopping site, but that was costly and overloaded by commercial jewelry and clothing. I run a website, but my husband takes care of any difficult back-end coding for me, and coding my own store front wasn't working for me very well since it needed more than I could do without my husband's constant help. Etsy was the perfect solution by providing a place geared toward a handmade society, and by understanding how important it is to build that type of community among crafters.
3. Do you sell your work in any bay area stores?
I've sold my jewelry in a few salon boutiques in the bay area, but currently have nothing in stores. However, I am working with the manager of my salon relatively soon in order to get a line of my jewelry into her store fronts.
4. When you're not creating what are you doing?
I work as a hair stylist during the day, and split my time between working in a fantastic salon, Alchemy Hair Studio in San Jose, working part-time for a hair color company as an Artistic Educator, and working freelance photo shoots styling hair, and occasionally playing the roles of photographer, wardrobe and makeup stylist, and even sometimes modeling. The rest of my time is spent with my fantastic husband, who I've been married to a year on September 15, and our adorable two cats. We love music, computers, cooking, and gardening on our balcony, and love living in the bay area!
