Urban Bazaar Grand Opening!

Have you heard? Two of SF Etsy's finest have opened a "real" store in the Inner Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco! Big Congrats to Briana Bers (lookwhatimade) and Brandi Chalker (crowsnestshop) on the Grand Opening of Urban Bazaar!

Urban Bazaar, the newest progressive, artisan gift shop in San Francisco, will hold a Grand Opening celebration August 14th and 15th. Featuring an eclectic array of affordable goods made from recycled and repurposed materials, Urban Bazaar stocks Fair Trade and locally handmade accessories and housewares.

The store, which opened its doors on July 22nd in the 9th and Irving neighborhood, is the creation of two local artists, Briana Bers and Brandi Chalker, both of whom contribute their own art pieces to the store. Stemming from their shared passions for social justice, environmental responsibility, and promoting the handcrafted arts, the pair offers an alternative to big box chains and mass produced goods while supporting artisans locally and abroad.

The Grand Opening Celebration will feature sales, free coffee and snacks, and crafting demonstrations in the "secret garden" backyard during regular shopping hours (Saturday, 11am to 5pm and Sunday 9:30am to 5pm). The after-hours party will take place from 7-10pm on Saturday, August 14th, featuring Little Star Pizza, beverages, crafting demonstrations, a Fair Trade gift basket giveaway, and possibly live music.

Emphasizing the importance of choosing locally made and Fair Trade merchandise, instead of items that are produced using exploitative labor practices, will always be at the forefront of Urban Bazaar's mission. "I have always been inspired by the stories behind handcrafted artwork. I'm excited to share those stories with our customers, by providing an informational card with almost every item in the store," says Bers. Adds Chalker, "This is all about bringing consumers and artisans together, to form positive relationships between the people who create things and the people who purchase and enjoy them."
