Inpsired by Handmade: What I find "Pinteresting"

We have over 44 boards - and growing!

CHECK OUT THE SF ETSY PINTEREST BOARDS!

I know I'm not the only one that finds Pinterest probably the most addictive thing since sliced bread... that is, if you love bread as much as I do.

OK... so maybe not all of your are Pinners... but did you know that Pinterest brings the most unique visitors to sites than any other?...and for this alone - climb aboard the Pinterest Train with me. (and feel free to ask me if you need an invite to start an account)

Some General Rules of Thumb for Success:

  • Don't over-pin. Followers will unfollow if you've hidden all their followers behind your steady stream of Pin It Addiction
  • New Pins should be pinned directly from the original website where the image/content was found so that the person gets the credit they deserve.
  • Remember your audience - you can hide boards that are just for your own personal inspiration...if you want your content to be relivant to your followers, keep your visible content something they will find interesting... like DIY projects, recipes and inspirational quotes if most of your followers are Etsy fans.
  • Pin Images that are clear and have good resolution.
  • Curate your boards - make them specific and you'll get more followers - such as a color, cohesive theme, or type items (like favorite shoes, recipes or haunted mansions)

I found an article about Pinterest & Small Businesses that really shows the benefit of it for smaller businesses just starting out. About.com said: "Small businesses have started to see the value in Pinterest. Take for example graphic artists, photographers, interior designers and fashion designers, they are able to create storyboards showcasing their work. They have the freedom to display their work using their creativity, personal style and personality creating fantastic portfolios that can be seen and shared by other Pinterest users. This allows consumers to check out their work, prior to contacting them"

Our Leader in charge of social media - Lisa of TickleandSmash - has been SUPER busy building Pinterest Boards centered around our SF Etsy team! You know you'll get beautiful imagery straight from Etsy with our ever-changing boards. Plus! You'll be supporting SF Etsy Team Members with every RePin.

CHECK OUT THE SF ETSY PINTEREST BOARDS!

Lisa asked me to Guest Pin - YAY!
So I got to fill up a board with SF Etsy Peeps that I found amazing and inspiring. I kept in mind the rules of thumb above.

HERE'S WHAT I FOUND "PINTERESTING"! (ALL SF ETSY TEAM MEMBERS, TOO!)
--> clicky here

It was the First Pin that got me inspired!
Welp, it all started with Helen Pappas - my friend through Astra Brinkmann.
I saw a photo of her modeling an adorable yarn hat by FoxTree and I just had to pin it to my guest board because I was excited to see someone I knew who isn't part of SF Etsy (she does however make some rad backpacks that should be on Etsy)

From there, I Just kept my pallette cohesive....I stuck to picking muted colors for the most part, blended with peaches, pinks and oranges. I also kept my theme by sticking to SF Etsy Sellers only... since that way, members can re-pin from my board knowing they are supporting their local team members.

What I love about building a Pinterest board really brings my personality forward. Can you tell I pretty much look like my Pinterest board every day? OK... maybe I don't really... but I sure feel like I do...or I have dreams that I do.

Share links to your Pinterest boards below. I'd love to see what you find Pinteresting!

Team Leader News: Welcoming Even!

We at the SF Etsy leadership team are delighted to announce that Even Howard of Nadene is coming on board as our newest Team Leader!

Even is stepping up to take on the Education and Professional Development role. Genevieve had been leading up this committee, and due to some changes in her life she is needing to step down into more of a supporting role. We'd like to thank Genevieve for all she's done to help SF Etsy grow and thrive! And we'd like to take a moment to introduce Even, for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting her online or in person.

Even was interviewed as a Friday Feature at SF Etsy some time back, and she's a longstanding active member of SF Etsy. Here's what she would like to share regarding her new roles and responsibilities in the team:

I love the moment in a person's life when a great idea meets positive production and the lifestyle of a small business owner becomes as well crafted and beautiful as the products themselves. This synergy of idea, product, personality, and personal goals meeting market in the right place at the right time appears magic to some, but it is often the result of specific methods and persistence. My hope as a Team Leader is to enable each of us to find that synergy.

As members of the SF Etsy team, we have amazing resources at hand as we each create some version of that magic for ourselves. Our own team members and the wider entrepreneurial landscape of the Bay Area provide models, motivation, reassurance, and a safety net and I see my role as a team leader as one of collector and distributor of these resources via any means possible. You'll see my blog posts for our SF Etsy Treasury Team continue. These are a great way to become familiar with each other's wares and promote our team. This is one simple and valuable way we can create rich content to be shared as well as have a chance at being viewed on the front page of Etsy.com.

"Asking Even", our new column for the blog is taking the place of the well loved "Savvy Entrepreneur." I will be addressing team questions in both personal and business development individually and anonymously. You can always email  to add in your voice! It is my goal to provide a leadership role for the Professional Development committee as we host training in all aspects of Etsy-based business as well as experiment with personal growth and foster creativity in the SF Etsy team. We'll host personal and business development workshops and meet-ups online and in person. I bring 15 years of management and community development experience as well as some decent tech skills hard earned! Please do contact me via Etsy if you would like to suggest training topics, offer skills, or just chat more about the possibilities our committee can offer.

Thanks again to Even and Genevieve for past, present, and future efforts to further improve our team! We are so grateful for all the leaders and volunteers who make this team such an amazing resource.

SF Etsy Member Hello Cupcake Interviews Jonathan Adler

We are delighted to present a guest post from SF Etsy team member Stacy of Hello Cupcake -- who recently interviewed Jonathan Adler! It was thanks in part to the support of the SF Etsy team that Stacy was able to gain enough votes to win this opportunity. Read on to learn more about her adventures!

"When I sat down for lunch with the public relations representative before my interview, he asked me "How did you do it?  How did you get so many votes".  A few weeks back, I had sent an email to everyone I knew.  I had reached out to the entire SF Etsy Team. I had blogged, tweeted, Facebook and chatted up everyone I could to let them know that I was in the running to meet and interview designer Jonathan Adler in New York City and that I needed their help to get the most votes to win.  I won.  I won in excess of over 1000 votes to the person in second place.  Sometimes it takes a community like SF Etsy to help get you where you need to be.

I'm recently back from my trip to NYC where I was able to meet and interview Jonathan Adler in his SoHo loft.  In choosing what to ask the known designer with stores across the US, his third book in production and having collaborated with some big name companies I wanted my questions to be relevant to people who read my blog and for people who are looking to make a creative leap.  Having an Etsy shop (Hello Cupcake) and recently quitting my full time job at a San Francisco nonprofit as public relations manager to start a boutique pr agency (Hello Cupcake Public Relations) I wanted to talk about fears, failures and successes in the pursuit of following ones creative passions.

To read the interview and see additional images from Jonathan Adler’s studio please visit the Hello Cupcake Blog!"

The SFEtsy Mission Meet-Up - "start before you're ready"

Over the last year or so, we have really ramped up our Meet-Ups and events within our team. Which is Faaaantastic because we get to swap ideas, talk together and get to know one another face-to-face.

Last Wednesday, I went to a Meet-Up organized by Debbie of Blue Hour Studio at Borderlands. This was probably one of the most inspiring meetings that I've ever attended with other members.

Members in attendance:
Lux Capacity
Katy Atchison Illustration
The Curious Potter
Lovely Lesage
Seaglass Reinvented
TheRecoverie
Eko Jewelry Design
OodleBaDoodle
Blue Hour Studio

When we first arrived, we did a little business card swap...which was fun because we could see all the different business cards that each team member made to showcase and brand their small business.
Then we went around the table, held up our card and introduced ourselves and talk about "What inspires you, how did you get into what you are doing now?"... the most interesting answers came out of those ice breakers.

Here are some of my favorite inspirational quotes from members:

- "Start before you're ready" a quote from Robert Glenn that was mentioned by Terrie. Basically, push yourself to do something you're not comfortable with and the rest will follow. If you don't take a risk than you can't really push yourself forward.

- "The passion keeps me going." From Eko who admits that she started her craft later in life, but she puts her passion into her jewelry designs and is putting in a lot of hard work to understand how to make her business grow and change.

- "Turning 40." Which I think is a motivation for many of us. Stop talking about what you're passionate about...and start doing!

- "To take a photo of a mountain...you have to climb it" which was based off a blog entry called The Pursuit of Excellence that Lisa read.

At some point, Rebecca from OodleBaDoodle started talking about the new things she's been doing. One of which was custom shirts for men and the other is portraits of pets out of fabric. I chimed in because I think my cat Tuna is my biggest fan...and funnily enough she had MADE ME A PORTRAIT OF TUNA... I'm still more than a little bit excited about it.

After my excitement died down we talked a bit about Business Groups. Korie made a good point that if a Business Group was member created, than it could essentially be "the blind leading the blind". I encouraged her that if she wants to create a business group, she can bring in experts to meetings who can help the group talk about specific topics. Also, there is no harm in people learning the ins and outs of something together and learning from each person's mistakes. A Business Group is an opportunity to really create strong relationships with other members since you will be meeting on a more regular basis.

WE WANT YOU! SFEtsy Team Member Gallery Show

You know what is totally awesome?! Us.
Yes, that's right...our SFEtsy Team is amazing. We are a diverse group of inspiring and talented people who support each other in everything that we do.

Here's our chance to really show what we are all about...This May, we will be having our very first Gallery Show at a wonderful space, STUDIO Gallery in San Francisco. Unlike previous team shows, this is not a craft show - this is a show to showcase how amazing we are as artists. STUDIO Gallery is excited about the chance to display work from our local Etsy team of artists and craftsmen in a brick and mortar space!

WHEN WILL THE EVENT BE?:
The gallery show begins May 2, 2012 and runs through May 27, 2012, with an opening reception on Saturday, May 12th, 2-6 pm.

WHO WILL BE IN THE SHOW?:
This show is for SFEtsy Team Members only. We are interested in any 2D or 3D media—paintings, prints, ceramics, jewelry, glass, metal, furniture, mixed media, sculpture, bags, etc.—as long as the work meets the Etsy definition for handmade. (Supplies, vintage or imported items, and sized clothing won’t be considered.)

ABOUT THE SPACE:
STUDIO Gallery in San Francisco is looking for artists and craftspeople from the SF Etsy Group to participate in a juried show at the gallery. STUDIO Gallery shows work from local artists and craftspeople, and this is our 9th year. They have a rotating schedule of shows, ranging from large, themed group shows with 175+ artists to solo shows. (STUDIO Gallery actually already shows several artists from our Etsy group.)

WILL THE WORK BE SOLD?: Yes. The gallery will take the typical 50% commission on any pieces that sell during the show. The artist will get the other 50%. If your work is accepted into the show, the prices on your Etsy site for comparable work and the retail price for the piece in the gallery will need to be consistent. You will work directly with the gallery owners when you sell work, drop off work and pick up work. For those who have never sold in a gallery before, this is a great opportunity to learn a lot about the business behind selling your work in a gallery space.

WHAT IF I DON'T SELL MY 2D ART/PAINTINGS ON ETSY BUT I'M A MEMBER?: Well, that's easy... you can still apply. Your 2D art can be entered in a very similar way as items in your Etsy Shop. See how in the "to apply" section.

TO APPLY
If you have work that you think would be a good fit for the show, you can:

1. Email the owners of STUDIO GALLERY at Art@STUDIOGallerySF.com and send us a link to your Etsy store where we can view photos of your work. If there are specific pieces you’d like us to consider, let us know where to find them on your site.

2. If the pieces are not available on your Etsy site, you can email us at
Art@STUDIOGallerySF.com with 2-3 low-resolution (72dpi, 5" x 5" max) photos of your
work in jpeg format; total attachments should not exceed 500K. Include the medium,
size and retail price for the piece.

The gallery is doing all of the selecting for this show to ensure that the work in the show has a fantastic variety and is the right fit for their established customer base. If STUDIO gallery thinks your work is a fit they will contact you to set up an appointment to see your work in person; this will also give you a chance to see the gallery. We will be reviewing work for the SF Etsy Show through Friday, April 20th or until the show fills up.

Big News! New Captains and Leaders for the SF Etsy Team!

Did you know that it's been more than two years since I (Jen of Mama's Magic Studio) stepped up as captain for the SF Etsy team?

What an amazing time it's been! When I took over the job, there was only one team leader (yours truly), and we had primarily an online existence. As such, it didn't matter all that much that I was not living in San Francisco. But thanks to the energy and involvement of our ever-growing creative community, in addition to our thriving online team presence we are now doing lots of amazing stuff in the real world. Most of it in San Francisco. I'm so proud of how active our team has become! But the time has come to have a captain who is more centrally located. And though I truly adore SF Etsy and San Francisco, I love it here in the South Bay and have no plans to move up to the city. So the time has come for me to step down as your team captain.

I am absolutely delighted to announce that we will have not one but two new co-captains stepping up to fill the role. These two longtime team members are full of ideas and enthusiasm, and I am confident that they will help SF Etsy continue to grow and thrive. It's my pleasure to introduce Katy Atchison and Steph Cortes, your new co-captains!

I'm also excited to share that you'll have a chance to meet your co-captains and many of your team leaders at the Etsy Meet Ups on Saturday! You'll have two opportunities to get together with local Etsians -- first at 3 pm at the Apple Store, where Steph will be one of the featured Etsy sellers at the "Etsy, Local Artists, and Technology" presentation; second from 5-7 p.m. at the Meet-N-Greet with Etsy and SF Etsy at TechShop SF, where Steph and Katy as well as other team leaders will be present to talk shop, network, answer questions, and share ideas. Please note that an RSVP is required for the TechShop event -- more info about both events can be found here.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it on Saturday to either event. (My son's school play is at the same time!) So I'll have to settle for telling y'all online how much I will miss being your captain. It has been such a privilege to lead up this team! I've had a great time working with you all, and being part of this creative community has enriched my life in ways both large and small. It's kept me sane, kept me going, and definitely kept me busy! I'm so very grateful to have had this opportunity. Thank you for entrusting me with the leadership. The past two years have been an amazing ride while the team has grown and grown and grown -- we are now more than 550 active shops! We've held team shows, had lots of meet ups, revitalized our online community, helped throw a fantastic Craft Party to celebrate Etsy's anniversary, and we've been awarded several Etsy team grants. Wow!

While I will no longer be captain, I will be staying on as a team leader for the foreseeable future, and I will be very actively involved with transitioning the leadership roles. I also hope to help our team become more active and present in the South Bay, so we can have more in-person events like our TechShop San Jose meeting last week.

Though many of you already know Katy and Steph, we thought it would be helpful to share a little bit more about each of them.

Katy says: "Born to a potter and a textile artist, I've been keepin' the outside of my hands dirty with paint, marker and pastel for as long as I can remember. While other kids were attending summer camp, I was raised going to craft shows every weekend and spending summers up in Montana in a small 1920s family cabin. Later, in middle school, I declared that I was going to be a Graphic Designer. And so I became one about a decade later...and took on Web Design while I was at it. Still, although I did a great job nurturing my left brain self, I interned with an amazing Sculptor named Fern Cunningham in Boston who reminded me that being an artist is a passion we are born with, and I finally started to find a balance between making money and art. You can't hide being artistic or creative... it comes out in your smile and your eyes.

Now, I'm an Online Marketing Designer for Pottery Barn. I taking out my creativity out on canvas, paper goods and stationery. I've shown at many different venues in The Bay Area and been a featured artist at some great events as well. I hope as a co-captain I can help our endlessly creative team find that balance between the business side of ourselves and the creative beast we have pushing us to continue to create. I want to support our team in using networking through our group to find support and also ideas, while creating bonds between shops and building our community to be even stronger than it already is.

Some of the events and venues I've been featured in:
• Space Gallery
• 111 Minna – A Sketch Tuesday artist 5/11/2010
• 540 Club
• San Rafael Italian Street Painting Festival artist for more than 12 years
• Three Twin's Ice Cream
• Cherish (Inner Richmond)
• Studio Gallery SF
• Shoe Biz
• Underground SF"

Katy is an experienced team leader, with an enthusiasm that is thoroughly contagious. She has lots of ideas for the team. She has also been writing regularly for the team blog and hosting meet ups at her apartment. We are so lucky that she has agreed to volunteer her time and talents as co-captain!

And we are equally fortunate to have Steph Cortes, of nerd JERK fame, joining Katy in the captain role. Many of you know Steph through the irresistible geeky goodness that she creates in her shop. Many of you also know of her work with the I Heart Art: SF program. Steph created nerd JERK in 2009 to inspire the geek in all of us. With a nostalgic love for all that is retro, she specializes in crafting the old-school imagery of video games into geeky crochet plush sculptures. Steph has been designing her products since 2005 & joined the SF Etsy Leadership Team in 2010 to educate local Etsy Sellers through leading workshops & supporting the artists in the Bay Area’s craft community.

Steph has been a devoted member of SF Etsy for several years, and as part of the leadership team she has helped organize team shows, meet ups, and craft events -- since almost the beginning of my tenure as captain, it seemed that when SF Etsy was there, Steph was usually there too, full of smiles and ready to help out. In fact, she had probably played an essential role in helping to plan the event!

Steph is passionate about educating fellow Etsy sellers about the challenges and rewards of running a handcrafted business, and she has given presentations at venues such as the Conference of Creative Entrepreneurs. We're very excited for Steph at the moment, not just because she's taking on the co-captain role, but also because she has been chosen to represent local Etsy artists at the Etsy event on Saturday at the Apple Store! As I mentioned, Steph will be speaking at "Etsy, Local Artists, and Technology" from 3-4 (right before the TechShop SF meet up). This event is open to the public, and Steph would love to see some familiar SF Etsy faces at the talk. So come out and show your support for your new co-captain!

Along with new co-captains for the team, we have been working to better organize our leadership positions. We've decided that going forward, each team leader will take on a specific role. We're very happy that Rochelle of Haute Mélange will be our leader in charge of the Meet Up Committee. Géraldine of Géraldine Adams Illustration will continue her greatly appreciated work helping new and prospective members by being our leader in charge of the Welcome Committee. Ash of Kelly Drive will be our leader in charge of the Blog Team Committee, transitioning fully into this position in a few months.

Last, but absolutely not least, I am very happy to welcome two new team leaders: Genevieve of Lightbox SF and Lisa of Tickle and Smash. They are new to the leadership team, but not new to SF Etsy!

Genevieve of Lightbox SF is joining us as the leader in charge of professional development and education. Blog readers are already familiar with Genevieve -- she's our Savvy Entrepreneur, posting her insights and information every Thursday. With her extensive experience and areas of expertise, Genevieve is a perfect fit to help the SF Etsy leadership team grow and help the team with professional development.

Lisa of Tickle and Smash is coming on board as our leader in charge of social media. Those of you who follow our team twitter account have already "met" Lisa -- because for some time now she's been doing a fantastic job tweeting for the team! Thanks to the great job she's doing, we've gained many followers and our team's online presence has continued to grow.

We are so grateful that Genevieve and Lisa have stepped up to help out as team leaders, and we're excited about all the changes that are happening within the leadership team. The new team has already been meeting to make plans for SF Etsy -- just last night, we were all together on Google video chat! (Katy grabbed a screen shot, including me with my vintage headphone mic; yes I am that old-school. And yes, that is a print of "She Loved Her Shakespeare" from SF Etsy's own Studio MME hanging on my living room wall!)

Your new leadership team in action!
From left to right: Ash, Genevieve, Jen, Katy, Lisa, and Rochelle

We are sad that Kendra of Kendra Renee Jewelry is stepping down as a team leader -- Kendra co-led our first team trunk show and was a wonderfully supportive leader, providing advice and assistance and helping out with tasks behind the scenes like our annual roster reconciliation. Thank you, Kendra, for giving your time and talents to the team!

So much to look forward to with all these changes going on! Want to be part of the moving and shaking that is SF Etsy? Have ideas for what you'd like to see the team do in the coming year? Want to help us do it? Our team is entirely run by volunteers, and we always welcome more volunteers, either as team leaders or as members of our committees. We will be sending out a more formal survey soon to recruit folks, but if you'd like to get involved right away, you can always feel free to contact Katy or Steph, your new co-captains. Even better -- come to the Meet Up on Saturday and talk to them in person!

Thanks again to all of the folks who are part of the SF Etsy team leadership, and to the team as a whole. While I will miss being your captain, this step is a good one both for the team and for myself. I will be working closely with Katy and Steph to transition the captain roles, and I look forward to continuing to work with them and with the rest of the leadership team -- after all, while I'm stepping down as captain, I'm staying on as a team leader, and I know I'll remain involved in SF Etsy! But between feeling badly that I can't be more involved in the city and taking on more volunteer responsibilities at my son's school, it's reached the point that this Mama needs to spend less time mothering the team, and more time mothering her two great kids.

Thanks again to all of SF Etsy for letting me share Mama's Magic with you during the last few years!

SF Etsy Team's Holiday Show at Urban Bazaar

Last weekend I had the pleasure to volunteer at the Urban Bazaar Vagabond Indie Craft Fair: Holiday Edition...

With all of the bigger fairs, Bizarre Bazaar & Renegade, it’s great that there are smaller fairs that house our teammates with such class. Brandi and Briana, co-owners of Urban Bazaar, did a great job organizing the event.
There was a wide selection of items for shoppers, a donation based Bake Sale & Hot Drink area, as well as a very well organized and well lite backyard for the artists to set up & sell in.

The Bake Goodies Table & Hot Drink Station were hits! People would stop off at the Bake Sale table and donated even if they weren’t taking a treat! Must be the spirit of the season! One guy gave $10 just to to be nice...and even when I told people items were donation based, they still wanted to give a little something to SF Etsy. Lots of people talked about how great it is that Urban Bazaar are so willing to help out local artists. Even though the baked goods were free...people were willing to donate anyway just to help out SF Etsy. How great is that?!

Once a person stopped off at the Baked Goodie table, they often were intrigued as to what was going on and wandered inside the shop, and to the back, for the Craft Show.

From What I hear, everyone had a great time and most booths were busy for most of the afternoon.

I wasn't able to be in the back area much, since I was out front most of the day...but here are some photos that I took from the event featuring some of our team members! I missed a couple of the team members because I was rushing to get back to my station...but I think I got almost everyone there.

I think what I learned from this show was that smaller shows really allow you to showcase your work in a way that connects with your customer a little better than larger shows. Everyone at their booth was able to spend time with their customers and get to know their market.

Can't wait to see what other shows are happening for everyone the rest of this holiday season.

Everything Handmade Show Success

On behalf of the entire SF Etsy team, a huge thank you to Linda Donohue and the Shawna Stoney Showroom for hosting our SF Etsy team show last week!

Linda reports, "The show went very well. It was a great group of people and a fun afternoon. The marketing really worked and we had designers who saw fliers by the design center, people who saw the listings on the Bay Guardian and SF Gate sites and the Face Book event listings. We had a customer who came because he met people on the bus who told him about it and it was funny when the "bus load" (of 8 people) all walked in at once! "

Linda says she's definitely interested in hosting another SF Etsy show in the future, and she welcomes feedback from any folks who attended or participated in the Everything Handmade Show. Many thanks to everybody who contributed to the show's success!

Team News -- Welcomes and Congrats!

There's so much amazing stuff going on in the SF Etsy Team these days -- it's very exciting! We're working on two team shows, having meet ups, planning a holiday sale, and welcoming new members All The Time. Did you know our team has added 25 members in the last five weeks? Almost every weekday, we get somebody new! Like I said -- exciting!

I'd like to extend a very warm welcome to all our new members. We're very glad you're here!

And I'd also like to welcome and introduce the newest member of our SF Etsy blog team: Genevieve from Lightbox SF! She will be filling in the Savvy Entrepreneur shoes since Helene from Divine Orchid has had to take a break from the column.

Genevieve offers consultation services for artists (her favorite item in her shop is this One Hour Consultation) and she says:

I love talking to artists about how far they want to take their business. I get
so inspired and can't wait to help them reach all their goals. Sometimes I have
to reign myself in. My favorite part is when I share that bit of information
that they didn't even know they were looking for, but puts everything into
perspective. It's the lightbulb moment, or maybe the "Lightbox Moment".

We are very grateful to have Genevieve here on the team! Look for some very exciting posts coming from her in the near future.

While we're on the subject of how absolutely awesome this SF Etsy team is -- I'd like to shout out a big CONGRATS to Christl Hansman of fiberpuppy, whose work is appearing in Juxtapoz Handmade!

Christl tells us that this awesome publication will be available in many fine venues. Very cool!

Look out world, these SF Etsy folks are a-comin'!

Congrats, Team mates!

I'm delighted to share the news that our own SF Etsy member, Carol of KimonoMomo has been featured in Stitch Magazine!
Carol says, "Check out the Fall 2010 issue of Stitch for my sashiko furoshiki project on page 69!"

In other exciting SF Etsy news, ElizabetWendt is included in a show at L's Cafe (2871 24th St.) in San Francisco. She says, "There is a great variety of work there and I would encourage you to stop by for a drink/view if you are in the neighborhood."

Congrats, team mates!

Many thanks to everybody who submitted items and to everybody who took the time to vote. And thanks as well to the many people who were kind enough to vote for my Bird's Nest Pendant. It was tied for 10th place with drywell's fantastic poster, and I decided to be the tiebreaker and award the 10th place to the poster. Because, in my opinion, that's what leaders should do :-)

Friday Feature -- SF Etsy Top Ten! (Or should I say, 56?)

For this week's Friday feature, we're doing something a little different...

I wanted to be sure that all our team members knew that we are voting for the SF Etsy Top Ten! We received 56 submissions, and we now have to decide among all these gorgeous items which will be our top ten.

Submissions are now closed and have been collected in treasury format.

They can be viewed here:

Set One
Set Two
Set Three
Set Four

Or you can quickly get to all the sets from the Curated Treasuries page for Mama's Magic Studio.

Voting is open only to current SF Etsy members. Please check out this thread on the SF Etsy Google group for instructions about how to vote. Voting will close at Midnight on October 3rd, and the winners will be announced soon thereafter.

Good luck to all the folks who entered -- it is really hard to choose just 10 from all these lovely items! SF Etsy sure is a talented bunch!
