#SFEtsy March 19th - Spring Cleaning

We're announcing some big changes with the tweetchat this week!

I changed the time of the chat to the evening in the hopes of continuing to fit the chat into my new schedule but, unfortunately, it turned out that still wasn't going to work for me. This is why we haven't had a chat for a couple of weeks.

Thankfully Amanda (@MsAmandaJayne) from Ms Amanda Jayne has stepped up to take over from me so the chats will be able to continue as normal - yay! The general consensus was that the 10am time is best for most people so the chats will be going back to their usual morning slot.

Amanda will be starting the chats up again this Tuesday, with a topic of Spring Cleaning

#SFEtsy February 26th - Networking

I know this week should be a shop critique but I didn't quite get around to sorting that out so we're going to skip a month and talk about networking instead.

The chat this week will be at our new time of 7pm so I hope you can still make it and maybe even a few of you who couldn't come in the morning will be able to attend now!

We'll be discussing where to find out about good events to meet people, what kinds of connections to look for and ways to meet people online. We'll also chat about strategies for making an impression with someone as well as etiquette for following up with new contacts.

#SFEtsy February 16th - In-person sales techniques

This week our topic is very timely for me - improving in-person sales techniques.

We'll chat about experiences we've had with selling - good and bad - and what we've found to work best, sharing tips and tricks large and small.

We'll also discuss ways of responding to tricky questions and ways of staying positive and cheerful whatever the circumstances.

#SFEtsy February 12th - Taxes

Yep, it's tax time again!

This week our chat will be devoted to sharing tax tips. We'll talk about good strategies for keeping all your information organized so that when tax time comes round it's not such a huge headache, as well as what to keep track of.

We'll also chat about how to fill in which forms and what gets categorized as what. Finally we'll discuss how sales tax fits into it all and what permits and licenses we need to sell in the Bay Area.

#SFEtsy February 5th - Scheduling your time

While we're on the topic of getting things sorted out and improved for the new year, I thought it would be good to cover this, much upvoted, topic - how to schedule your time to fit in social media, listings and everything else you need to do as an Etsy seller.

We'll be sharing our own strategies that we've found to be successful as we talk about making time for social media and time-saving apps we've found.

We'll also discuss time-saving strategies for keeping on top of your Etsy store and ways of dealing with more than 1 online store.

Finally we'll think about time-efficiency in our personal lives and ways to make sure the professional doesn't take over the personal.

If you like to use tweetchat.com to follow our chats this is the link tweetchat.com/room/sfetsy

ALSO
Our tweetchats are nearly a year old now (!!) so I'd be really grateful if you could fill out this really short survey so I can get an idea of what you liked and didn't and where to take the chat in the future. I'm considering changing the chat time so it's really important, if you currently attend or would like to attend, that you let me know your time preferences!

You can find the survey here

If you think you might want to help out with the tweetchats I'd love to have more people on board with that - anything from running your own chat (maybe at a different time or once a month) to just helping out a bit. Let me know if you're interested!
Thanks

#SFEtsy January 22nd - Preparing for Craft Fairs

This week we will be joined by Danielle from Urban Air Market  (@UrbanAirMarket) and getting her insider perspective on our discussion about craft fairs as well as specific information about the Urban Air Market and what they are looking for!

Our discussion topics will include: writing a fantastic application and setting up a stunning booth, as well as ways curators and vendors can help to boost shopper numbers.

We'll also talk about differences in craft fairs, what to look for when choosing the right fairs for your business and how to spot a show that is well organised and hassle-free.

This week we also have a special tweetchat hosted by our Team Captain Katy Atchison! She'll be following on from last week's chat about our SF Etsy Team with a special, hour-long chat where she'll be going into more details about the exciting events coming up for the team, opportunities for you to get more involved and the chance for you to ask questions and give your suggestions to make the team even more awesome!

#SFEtsy January 8th - Setting Goals

Alright, the chat is back! We're starting our weekly tweetchat again on the 8th and our topic for the new year is Setting Goals.

We'll be asking what kind of goal setting strategies work best for ourselves and looking at the benefits of short-term and longer-term goals. We'll also discuss types of goals and how they can impact our ability to stick to them and we'll share good ways of recording our goals so we can keep referring to them and remembering to work towards them.

Finally we'll chat about accountability and how to boost it even when we work on a team of 1.

If one of your goals or new year's resolutions is to get more involved with the SF Etsy Team or get more active on twitter, this chat is a perfect way to achieve both those targets and we'd love to see you there! :)

#SFEtsy December 11th - Year Review

This week's chat will be the last one of the year! I'll be on a plane on the 18th and I can't imagine there will be many people wanting to participate on the 25th or 1st so the first chat in the new year will be the 8th.

We're going to finish the year by looking back at the things we learned in 2012. We'll talk about our successes for the year as well as the things we wish we'd found time for and the things we tried which didn't work out so well.

We'll also discuss which craft fairs were good for us and finish with the lessons we are going to carry forward into next year.

Since it's the last chat of the year it'll also be a holiday party so feel free to bring party food and/or drinks! We'll be taking the chat a little less seriously than usual and taking the opportunity to get to know each other better as well :)

See you Tuesday!!

#SFEtsy December 4th - Last Minute Sales

The final Etsy Bootcamp topic is all about last minute sales. So our tweetchat will be devoted to helping each other get and deal with last minute shoppers.

First we'll talk about ways to make shoppers feel confident ordering from us last minute, rather going to a store and ways to entice those last minute shoppers.

We'll talk about the dates we choose to set as final deadlines as well as offering rush shipping for even later orders.

We'll also discuss how to write super clear holiday policies and how we deal with shoppers who want to order after the deadline has passed and what to do when orders don't make it in time.
